Obituary for Beverly "Bev" Joyce Whitmore

Beverly (Bev) Joyce Whitmore, 70, of Marion, IA died peacefully at home surrounded by her devoted family on Tuesday, May 30th, 2023.

Beverly was born the daughter of Viola & John Johnson on June 1st, 1952, in Lisbon, IA. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1970. Bev married Stephen W. Whitmore Sr. of Marion, IA on May 28th, 1983. She served as a Postmaster in Lone Tree, IA for 17 years. Bev was well-known for her love of flowers, butterflies, and all things gardening. She was nominated Master Gardener of the Year in 2015, and she received the Lifetime Master Gardener award after many years of dedication to the Master Gardener Community. Bev and Steve have been devoted partners of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, IA and express their immense gratitude to the many church friends and community members.

Bev is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 40 years, Steve; her youngest son, Stephen Whitmore Jr. and Bev’s beloved daughter-in-law, Jess Whitmore (Berry); her eldest son and grandson, Daniel Young and Paul Daniel; and one daughter, Michelle. She was preceded in death by her parents. 

Those who knew Bev know it was truly a blessing to know her, love her, and be loved by her. Bev will forever be adored and greatly missed by all who knew her.
