Eldon LeRoy Hanson
Eldon LeRoy Hanson, 68, of West Branch, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Iowa City. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, May 30, 2014 at St. Bernadette’s Church, West Branch, Iowa. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at the church. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Eldon is survived by his wife Marilyn Hanson of West Branch; three daughters, Jenny (Ben) Hemingway of Iowa City; Dr. Kristin Hanson of North Liberty; Kelly Proctor of Philadelphia, PA; 2 sisters, Elaine Ketchum of Denver, CO; and Esther (Glen) Frisbie of Springville.
Eldon LeRoy Hanson was born August 18, 1945 in Winnebago County, Iowa the son of Raymond and Sophia Baade Hanson. He graduated from West Branch High School with the class of 1963. Eldon proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married Marilyn Bertling on August 14, 1970 in Anamosa, Iowa. Eldon worked for the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics and retired after 43 years of service.
Eldon loved farming, playing with his dogs and John Deere tractors. He could identify the make, model, and manufacturing location for any tractor he saw in the field. Eldon will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
