Rosemary L. Folken
Rosemary L. Folken, 88, of Monticello died Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center. A Funeral Service of Resurrection will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa at 11:30 AM on Monday, April 7, 2025, where there will be a visitation from 10:00 AM until service time. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
Survivors include a daughter Vicki Wacker of Anamosa; 4 sons Dave (Choi) of Indian Trail, NC, Gary of Monticello, Don (Judy) of Dubuque, and Denny (Lisa) of Monticello; a sister Betty Tjaden of Wyoming; a brother Lee Newhard of Tucson, AZ; 10 grandchildren Kris, Kelly (T.J.)Turner, Ed, John (Lindsay), Jessie (Eric), Andrew (Ali), Cole, Kyle, Paige, and Cade; and 11 great grandchildren Jack, Kate, John, Hailey, J.D., Jeremy, Natilie, Owen, Raelynn, Miles, and Charlie.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Edward J. “Ed” Folken in 2012; grandson Joey; and brother Truman Newhard Jr.
Rosemary was born on July 29, 1936, in Jones County, Iowa, the daughter of Truman John and Mable Marie (Hubner) Newhard. She married Edward J. “Ed” Folken on August 30, 1955, in Vilmar, Iowa. After High School, Rosemary worked as a switchboard operator at the local telephone company. She then worked at Collins Radio until she and Ed started their family. She later returned to Rockwell Collins, staying there until her retirement. Rosemary also helped Ed with the family farm.
She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa. Rosemary enjoyed gardening, sewing, camping, and fishing. She enjoyed watching sports, especially the Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Chicago Bulls.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
