William "Bill" Musker

On Sunday, February 5, 2017, the world lost a great man, William “Bill” Musker, age 83.

Visitation: 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids.  Memorial services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017, also at the church.

Bill was born March 11, 1933 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the only child of Walter and Florence (Smith) Musker.  He attended Arthur School and graduated from Franklin High School with the class of 1951.  He attended Coe College and the University of Iowa, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.  Bill served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, from 1953 to 1955.

He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marilynn Jungjohann, a St. Luke’s School of Nursing graduate, at First Presbyterian Church in Miles, Iowa on August 24, 1957.  They proudly raised three children.

Bill was employed by National Oats for thirty years, retiring in 1993.  He had been a member of First Presbyterian Church of Cedar Rapids since 1947, where he was proud to have served as a deacon, elder, and trustee.

Bill enjoyed caring for and spending time with his grandchildren.  He loved to travel.  He was affectionately known as “Papa” to his grandkids, and loved supporting them in all of their school and sporting events.  Bill’s final wish was that his family would take care of each other.

His kind spirit, great stories, and big smile will be missed by many.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-nine years, Marilynn; children: Mark Musker, Beth (Craig) Furnish, and Lisa (Robb) Fluent; five grandchildren: Megan and Mason Furnish; Anna, Claire, and Mara Fluent, all of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law: Warren Jungjohann of Sebring, Florida; nieces: Julie (Bill) Raab of Clinton; Kathy (Ron) Cravatta of Orlando, Florida; as well as nephews: David (Sharon) Jungjohann of Bettendorf and James (Rebecca) Jungjohann of Castle Rock, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Wayne Jungjohann.

Memorials in Bill’s name may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Kennedy High School Booster Club, or St. Luke’s Hospice.
