Marion G. Daboll

Marion G. Daboll, 92, a long time resident of Hiawatha, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017, following a short illness.  A private interment will take place in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

Marion was born May 1922, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Jerry Patrick and Hazel (Carpender) McGinnis.  Following High school, Marion worked at Mutual of Omaha until she was united in marriage to Don Daboll in May 1949.  Don’s work at Wilson’s Food Corp., brought them to Cedar Rapids and in 1955 they purchased a house in Hiawatha where Marion stayed home to raise their family.

Marion had many interests and hobbies, which included cooking, sewing, gardening, woodworking, fishing, camping, singing, dancing, and later in life, watching football.  She loved life and enjoyed time with family, long-time friends, and neighbors.  Marion was a social butterfly, winning the hearts of all those she met.

Marion is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Don, and two sisters; Marge (McGinnis) Schmitz and Virginia (McGinnis) Lewis.

Marion is survived by three daughters; Cheryl (Dennis) Lloyd of Hiawatha, Jacalyn (Mike) Holveck of Cedar Rapids, Debi (Jim) Von Dollen of LaVista, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Christina (Jerad) Williams of Marion, Danielle (Chad) Heck of Lisbon, Jennifer (Randy) Boge of Omaha, NE, Lisa (Dan) Schumacher of Sidney, NE, Jayme Von Dollen of Omaha, NE; and ten great-grandchildren.

Marion and her family would like to thank all the staff at the Promise House in Hiawatha for their loving care and friendship given to Marion during her stay there of several happy years.
