Una Irene Porter

Una I. Porter, 88, of Edgewood, passed away due to cancer on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Edgewood.  Funeral service will be held on Monday, at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Edgewood.

Una Irene Porter was born on May 19, 1929 to Elmer and Blanche (Hansel) Morley in Garber, Iowa.  She was united in marriage to George Porter on June 28, 1950 in Garber.  He passed away in 2010 and they are now dancing in Heaven together.  Una enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards, and taking care of her cats.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Una enjoyed her work in the laundry at the Edgewood Convalescent Home, reluctantly leaving after 31 years. Una will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Jack (Gwen) Porter of Edgewood; Barb (Robert) Murphy of Cedar Rapids; Gary Porter of Edgewood; grandchildren, Janie (Matthew) Walhart of Winthrop, Katie (Aaron) Crane of Manchester, Jill (Danny) Kleinlein of Strawberry Point; Travis Murphy, Charlie (Krista) Murphy, Shane Murphy, Kelsey (Matt) Bunnell, Dakota Murphy all of Cedar Rapids; Kyle and Emilie Porter both of Edgewood; great grandchildren,  Becca, Clayton, Noah Walhart; Thomas, Carson, Hannah Crane; Jacob and Ryan Kleinlien, Madelyn Murphy, Kaylee Porter;  siblings, Ilo Moser of Edgewood, Irma Glawe of Elkader, and Lyle Morley of Osage; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Una was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents; sister, Ina Steen; father and mother-in-law, Ray and Mildred Porter; sister-in-law, Deletta Elvers; brothers-in-law, Dale Elvers, Delbert Moser, and Willard Steen; and one niece, Darla Schroeder.
