Stanley Soucek

Stanley (Stan) Henry Soucek, age 74, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017, following a brief battle with cancer.  Stan was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on August 18, 1942 to Henry Soucek and Victory Ptak Soucek.  

Stan was raised in Washington, Iowa and graduated from Washington High School.  After graduating, he served in the Air Force for six years following high school.  Stan was a long time employee of Northrup King/Syngenta in which he retired after working there for over 30 years.

Stan was a loving father and grandfather, and a great friend to many.  He had a quick wit and always could put a smile on your face with a joke or story to tell.  He had a love for music and theater and participated in many Washington Community Theater plays over the years.  He also was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.

Stan is survived by his daughter Lindsay and husband Josh Mayer of Washington, Iowa; two grandchildren; Carter Henry and Millie Ann; stepmother Dorothy Soucek; brothers Jan Sedlacek, and Karel Sedlacek; sisters Jean Gloyer, Suzanne Riley, Marie Sedlacek, Victory Sedlacek; sister-in-law Gerry Cosby Soucek and niece, Victoria. He is preceded in death by his father Henry Soucek, mother Victory Ptak Sedlacek, stepfather Karel Sedlacek, stepmother Laurie Soucek, and brother Steven Soucek.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
