James G. Hopkins, 83 of Cedar Rapids died Sunday May 7, 2017 at his home. Per Jim’s request there will be no visitation or service. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include 2 sons; Michael and Jay; 2 daughters, Julie and Maria all of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his wife, parents and 2 sisters.
Jim was born on September 21, 1933 in Cedar Rapids. He married Dolores Frank on November 3, 1953 in Cedar Rapids. Dolores passed away in 2014.
Jim served proudly in the Army for 3 years and later retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He later worked as a mechanic at Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado for 13 years, retiring in 1999.
Jim caddied as a boy and in later life enjoyed watching golf, fishing, and the time spent with his beloved family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
