George Kirby, 75, passed away on May 19, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, with a prayer service beginning at 4:00 PM. Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the St. Matthew Catholic Church.
George is survived by his wife Sharon of 56 years; children Rick (Sandy), Cindy (Kevin), 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 7 sisters, 4 sister in laws, 5 brother in laws, and many nieces and nephews.
George is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Brenda, 4 brothers and a sister.
George was born February 22, 1942, in Masonville, IA to Francis and Artazena Kirby. He married Sharon Pirc on August 2, 1960 in Anamosa. George was employed at Wilson and retired from Klein Tools. George’s final loving act was being an eye donor.
Family would like to thank Mercy ICU, Unity Point Continual Care and hospice, employee’s, doctors, pastoral care.
Inurnment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
