Lyle Millhollin
Lyle Millhollin, of Fontanelle (formerly of Greenfield), passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Center in Fontanelle. A memorial service and internment will be held on Friday, April 14th at 11:00 AM at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery (34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel).
Lyle Norman Millhollin was born to Charles Earnest Millhollin and Edna (Welcher) Millhollin on November 18, 1924 in Adair County, Iowa. On October 16, 1948, Lyle married Marcene Lorraine Cummins in Long Beach, California. Lyle served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a radio operator on a B-24 bomber. He owned his own dry cleaning business and worked for Schildberg’s Construction Company. He enjoyed watching college sports, particularly the Iowa Hawkeyes, of which he was an avid fan. He loved animals and gardening, was a Lions Club member and with his sense of humor and warm demeanor was a friend of many.
Lyle is survived by his wife Marcene of Fontanelle; daughters Denice Gienapp of Des Moines, Joni Collins (Gregory) of Kansas City, MO, and Suzanne Pataro of Swedesboro, NJ; sister Betty Smith (Don) of Manhattan Beach, CA; sister-in-law Patricia (Don) Wambold; brother-in-law Charles Cummins; four grandchildren: Devan Collins of Kansas City, MO, Ami (Rob) Campbell of Des Moines, Justin (Courtney) Gienapp of Denver, and Cole Pataro of Swedesboro, NJ; two great- grandchildren: Henry Jay Gienapp and Charlie Paul Gienapp, both of Denver; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers.
