William Webster Hamilton

William Webster Hamilton passed away at Unity Point Rock Island on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at the age of 94.  Private family burial will be performed at a later date.

He is survived by his wife Ursula Hamilton; children: Jill (David) Linder, Kim Hamilton, Jan (Dean Ryan) Mossage, Sue (Rick) Hamilton-Petty; step-children: Renata (Warren) Lucas and Carmen (Greg) Beice; eight grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Monroe and Grace Pansy (Stolba) Hamilton; his first wife, Janyce Byrdena (Stone) Hamilton; and brothers John and James Hamilton.

Born of William and Grace December 24, 1921, Bill graduated from high school in Marion, Iowa in 1940.  He then joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 and fought in the Pacific Theater.  He was discharged in 1945.  He married Janyce B. Stone in 1945.  He attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids from 1948 to 1949.

He re-enlisted during the Korean War in June of 1950.  He was employed by Colonial Bakery followed by a supervisory position at Harvest Day Bakery.  He married Ursula Kratochwill and retired in 1986.

Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, playing the accordion, and building bird houses.  He and Ursula enjoyed many years of travelling.  He shared his many life experiences and had a way of touching everyone he met.

The family would like to thank Unity Point Seventh Floor staff, Fifth Floor staff, and the Fourth Floor staff.  He was given exceptional care.  He will be missed by his many friends and family.
